My name is Pastor Sun Ki Jeong, and I have the privilege of serving Ever-Filling Church, a new worshiping community (NWC) reaching the Korean community in our area. By God's grace, our congregation worships every Sunday afternoon in the sanctuary of a PC(USA) church that is currently without a pastor. Earlier each Sunday, a Venezuelan congregation, La Esperanza, also gathers there for worship. Together, we are three congregations sharing one building—different languages and cultures, yet united in Christ.

When we first began meeting in this space, I often felt like a guest. I worried about inconveniencing the host congregation and tried to be as careful and respectful as possible. Yet God had something much greater in mind than simply providing us with a place to worship.

Over the past months, I have been invited several times to preach in English and lead Communion for the host congregation. Those opportunities have reminded me that ministry is not limited by language or culture. The Lord has graciously allowed me to serve brothers and sisters beyond my own congregation.

One experience especially touched my heart. An elderly member of the host church, who has been living with heart disease, asked if we could spend some time talking together. He shared openly about his fears regarding death. Because English is not my first language, I spent several days praying and preparing what I wanted to say, even writing out a prayer in English beforehand.

When we met, we talked about God's promises and His peace. At the end of our conversation, I held his hands and prayed with him, asking the Lord to fill his heart with comfort, hope, and the assurance of His presence. Afterward, he told me how grateful he was simply to have someone listen, pray, and remind him that he was not alone. It was a beautiful reminder that pastoral care often begins with being present.

God has also blessed us with a growing friendship with Pastor Zulema and her husband, Douglas, who serve La Esperanza. Earlier this summer, we traveled together to the NCDC Summer Retreat, sharing a ten-hour round-trip drive. Those hours together allowed us to build a deeper friendship and discover how God is weaving our ministries together.

Through these experiences, I have realized that we are not simply three congregations sharing the same building. We are partners in God's mission, caring for one another and serving the same community in different ways. The host church has provided our young worshiping community with a welcoming home, while we have had opportunities to encourage and support them during their pastoral transition. Together, we have witnessed the beauty of the body of Christ, where each member strengthens the others.

Church planting can often feel lonely, but God continually surprises us with unexpected friendships and faithful partnerships. I pray that this story will encourage all who are faithfully planting, serving, and sowing seeds throughout our presbytery. As we offer our small acts of obedience, God continues to build God’s kingdom in ways we could never imagine.
