Leader Spotlight: Jonier Orozco

Jonier Orozco

Who are You/ what do you do?

I am Rev. Jonier Orozco, pastor at Austell Presbyterian church since 2019 and the moderator of the NCDC.

What excites you about NCD’S mission and work our work with new worshiping communities?

It is exciting to see different expression of faith and how the Spirit of the Lord is moving in different places through nontraditional ways adding more disciples to the body of Christ; because of the work of the NCDC small worshiping communities are becoming visible, honored and celebrated. It is the mission of the NCDC to support, lead and offer some training in order for this new church initiatives will have resources to become the faith community they are being called by responding to needs of the people they are call to serve.

What have you come to understand about NCDC through serving on NCD’S board that you did not know before you served?

It is indeed through the work and mission of the NCDC that our church and Presbytery have a tangible chance to grow in numbers developing new expressions of faith – worshiping communities. It is this commission a laboratory where new ideas about how church needs to be done in order to be meaningful and relevant by serve all kinds of people celebrated, cherish and empowered. The reason why many people serve on the commission is because we have a passion for God, for our church and our denomination; somehow the word commission is not relevant any more to many; however, the NCDC is a living testimony of the diversity of the body of Christ and living call to build the church together even with those that look, think and worship different to us.
